It’s a quick answer to the question “what the hell do I eat right now?” Disclaimer, this isn’t the *BEST* food in Hong Kong, it’s simply the food I crave the most.</p> <p><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mak's_Noodle">Mak’s Noodles</a> <i>(Pictured above)</i><br/> It’s a little touristy because that Bourdain guy shot some TV show here, but this is the best wonton soup in the entire world. The shrimp with braised beef is the thing to get. Pro’s add a little bit of the red vinegar to the broth. They even have their own Wikipedia page…that’s how legit.</p> <p><a href="http://www.timeout.com.hk/restaurants-bars/top-100/2796/din-tai-fung.html">Din Tai Fung</a><br/> This place is a chain that started in Taiwan and has locations across Asia and even L.A. It’s hands down the best soup dumplings I’ve ever had. Everyone in New York jerks off talking about Joe Shanghai, but it’s only because they have no clue (I’m looking at you Chinese New Yorkers). I’ve gone here about 300 times in a week long span, it’s that good. I recommend the mini soup dumplings and the dumplings with the curled up shrimp on top.</p> <p><a href="http://www.vibesasia.com/restaurants/1783/itamae_sushi/info.htm">Itamae Sushi</a><br/> I’m a sushi snob, and this place is a shitty conveyor belt operation in the middle of a outdoor mall with Chinese high school drop out chefs. It’s outstanding because the fish is prepared well and it’s really fresh because the turnover is high. You grab the best looking dishes off the conveyor belt and pay depending on the color of the dishes. By the end of your meal you have 2ft stack of plates next to you and are 3 extra large sapporos in the hole for a reasonable price.</p> <p><a href="http://www.tsuiwahrestaurant.com/">Tsui Wah</a><br/> The ultimate in crappy Hong Kong diners. Diners in HK are a totally fucked up and weird experience. They pride themselves on using Campbell’s soup, and the thing to order is a bowl of macaroni with chicken broth and a side of egg for breakfast. It’s the best and the worst at the same time. This is the spot to hang out (especially the one in Central) late at night after you drank the night away in Lan Kwai Fong with the other gweilos.</p> <p><a href="http://www.fourseasons.com/hongkong/dining/lung_king_heen/">Lung King Heen</a><br/> This is the ultimate gourmet Chinese food experience in Hong Kong. It’s also the only spot on the island with 3 Michelin stars. Eating here at dinner is not really going to happen unless you’re a rich douche staying at the Four Seasons. The benefit of hitting this place up for lunch is you’ll pay half as much as you would at dinner and you get to order jaw droppingly good dim sum. This isn’t crap chinatown dimsum, this is crazy punch yourself in the dick dim sum.
