It spends about $216,000 per year on each juvenile detainee, and just $8,000 on each child in the troubled Oakland public school system.   12. something-greater said: VERY sickening. I’m a grad student of Criminal Justice and cannot believe how much emphasis the CJ system puts on nonviolent offenders. Fucking seriously? Prison education and rehab would greatly reduce recidivism and we wouldn’t have this problem.
