NYC Pet (5/5)
This is where I get all of my puppy supplies from cheap ass toys to organic venison. The staff is always nice and they give my pup a treat whenever I’m in there. I mean there’s not much you can say about a pet store, but this place has everything you could possibly want. (via Yelp - mike’s most recent reviews on Yelp.)
Lenny's Cafe (4/5)
I have never in my life seen this place…it could be a deli slicer in a dirty bathroom for all i know. Nine times out of ten I order via the computerized wonder that is SeamlessWeb.com I usually get a plain ol’ turkey sandwich, provalone, onions, lettuce, tomato, and mustard. It is perfectly matched with cape code salt&pepper chips. *swoon* There is nothing much to say about...
Soho House (2/5)
One of the true hell hole’s of the city where 30 something middle managers hang out and pretend they are really rich with people who are actually rich. Everyone sits around and talks about how great they are while getting drunk and feeling extremely exclusive because they had to get signed into the club. I’d avoid this place at all costs, but I gave it a 2 star because it’s...
The Levee (3/5)
I think geographically this is the closest bar to my apartment which makes it my “local.” I don’t come here often because the crowd during the day resembles an AA meeting after party and the crowd at night is a track-bike hipster fiasco but they have good beer and yummy snacks. You can’t deny a bowl of cheese balls and how eloquently it pairs with a jack&coke. They...
Adrienne's Pizza Bar (4/5)
Adrienne’s makes one of my favorite pie’s in New York, and it’s in the culinary deadzone of the Financial District. I could eat there all day every day but usually it gets massively crowded. It sit’s on Stone Street which is always a cute place in the summer due to their outdoor tables though the patrons can be a bit “after work crowd.” Given the area, those...
Republic (1/5)
Close to being my #1 most hated restaurant in New York. This place is constantly overwhelming busy and they make you sit at these large benches eating with complete strangers. The food is horrific and pretty much a disgrace to any asian country they are trying to rip menu items from. The staff is also very very snooty and I have no clue why since the place is a tourist trap in the middle of...
Puck Fair (3/5)
This has been my go-to bar in the soho area lately because they have lots of great beers, good cocktails, and a large space. The bar is about 300 times bigger than it looks from the outside, and when you walk in it’s like “whoa dewd.” I haven’t tried their food, and probably don’t intend to bother since there are so many restaurants in the area and this place seems...
Dokebi Bar & Grill (3/5)
The service here is horrendous and the room is always freezing in the winter, but I really like Dokebi. Sometimes you eat enough pizza and hamburgers in Williamsburg that you demand something different. Ten times out of ten I order the same thing here which is a bottle of soju, the fried pork Gyoza, and then the khalbi (short ribs) bbq. The meat is super fatty in a good way and melts in your...
Matsuri (4/5)
I was a sushi virgin going into this place so my review is a bit bias since I honestly don’t know shit about suhi. However, I can comment on the atmosphere and decour which were breathtaking. It’s really a beautiful restaurant with a lounge area overlooking the main dining room below. The crowd was very good looking on the Saturday night we went and the service was extremely quick...
Fette Sau (3/5)
First the positive: The decor is awesome…I LOVE the mural of meats and the place has a great industrial look and a fun vibe. The outside will be fun and LOUD during the summer months although the sign hovering above looks like it belongs over a bakery. The food: COLD! So so so cold. We went around 7:00 on a Wednesday and the food was freezing cold and mostly dry. It had great flavor...
Stir Cafe (1/5)
If you have a death wish, I highly recommend this place. The 5-day-old everything never hits the spot…only tourists visiting the bull dare venture in. (via Yelp - mike’s most recent reviews on Yelp.)
Zaitzeff (4/5)
Zaitzeff is practically the only decent place to eat in the Financial District. I usually order the same thing: Kobe beef burger, medium rare, with a side of “mixed fries” (regular and sweet potato fries mixed together). Though the fries are usually greasier than my crotch, the burger is heaven on earth. They serve it on a Portuguese engilsh muffin type bread with caramelized...
Columbine Foods (4/5)
I’m in love with the soups from this place. Today I had this mexican chicken soup with a tomato broth. The other day I had some lime, cilantro, and chicken soup with sliced bananas in it. It sounds disgusting but was SO good. My favorite has to be the Nantucket chicken chowder which they rarely have, but when they do ohhhh yeah. They do a soup + 1/2 sandwich thing for less than $10. ...

N.6 (3/5)
I have avoided this place for a while after two dinners with really HORRIBLE service. One time they completely ignored me for the better part of a half hour. The other time they told me they couldn’t recommend a wine to go with my pasta even though the place bills itself as a wine bar. My latest experience made me want to come on yelp and review it, because it wasn’t so bad! That...

Parish Diner (3/5)
Parish is the largest restaurant I’ve ever seen with the least amount of seats. I feel like they could throw another 2 floors into this place. The ceilings are so high you feel like they are eating inside a church. I was planning on eating a Guinness burger, but when the waiter ran through the beer list he left that beer out and claimed they didn’t have it. After consulting with the...
